For patients with more severe cases of acne, application of a prescription medication called Levulan (5-aminolevulinic acid), a photosensitizing agent, used in combination with OmniluxBlue™ light, can offer even more impressive results.

Levulan exfoliates the skin to unclog pores and shuts down the sebaceous glands, the root cause in the formation of severe, cystic acne. Levulan acne therapy is an excellent alternative to Accutane for those patients wishing to avoid the harmful side-effects associated with this medication. Two treatments are typically recommended to achieve optimal, long-lasting results.
