As an aesthetician, one of the most common complaints I hear are of adults struggling with acne. I have found that most did not experience acne as a teenager, and are now battling with it as an adult. In can be difficult to cope with, regardless of when someone struggles with it, and can even cause social anxiety and depression in an adult the same way it can in a teen. Adult acne affects 50% of adult women, and 25% of adult men at some time in their adult lives. The causes of adult acne are debatable, but potential causes include hormones, stress, cosmetics, toxins, and an increase of resistant bacteria. Stress and hormones tend to be the leading cause of acne in women. If you suffer from acne as an adult, it is important for you to know that you are not alone, and there is help. With proper skin care, a medical grade treatment plan, and a commitment from you and your provider, acne free skin can be achieved. Finding the path to clear skin is vital to your self esteem, and overall well-being. The most rewarding part of my job is working with someone to achieve clear skin, and achieving it! Your goal is my goal, and I will commit to providing the appropriate treatment, and offering my recommendations to combat adult acne.
